The upgrade involved installing PC POS touchscreen terminals and StockLink management software at the site’s six restaurants, cafes and kiosks.

IBS commissioned it overnight to minimise disruption at one of the UK 's most popular cultural attractions where an annual four million visitors flow through the former power station's dramatic Turbine Hall.

Prior to the installation, IBS carried out all the POS programming, menu-creation and reporting at its head office programming suite. The project also included post-installation training.

Tate Modern originally opened its doors in 2000 (visitor figures are double the original expectations) and IBS was involved from the start.

‘Just like the world of art, POS technology and enterprise management is in a constant state of change. What we can do now in terms of business intelligence and real-time data is unbelievable, from even five years ago,' said Gareth Powell, IBS managing director.

‘Speed, greater control at all six catering sites, the ability to analyse activity in real-time and to spot and deal with potential problems are just four of the benefits of the new system,' he said.
